Understanding the Ratings
1. Comedogenic Rating (0–5)
Indicates how likely an ingredient is to clog pores and cause breakouts.
- 0 = Non-comedogenic (generally safe for acne-prone skin)
- 5 = Highly comedogenic (higher chance of clogging pores)
- Lower scores are better for oily and acne-prone skin
2. Irritation Rating (0–5)
Shows how likely an ingredient is to cause redness, sensitivity, or irritation.
- 0 = Very low irritation risk
- 5 = High irritation risk
- Lower scores are better for sensitive skin
3. pH Compatibility Level
Indicates how closely an ingredient’s pH aligns with your skin’s natural pH (4.7–5.5), which helps maintain a healthy skin barrier.
- Closer to skin pH (4.7–5.5) → More gentle and skin-friendly
- Too acidic or too alkaline → May lead to dryness or irritation, especially for sensitive skin
Note:The pH range shown above for an ingredient represents its natural or formulation variation, not the ideal skin pH.
Exception:Some active ingredients (like AHAs/BHAs) are intentionally formulated at a lower pH to work effectively as treatments.
